Dear S
I never liked the cold
And the first time we met
I didn’t like you
You were the unknown, the uncertain
And I didn’t know how to stay afloat
Whenever you were around.
But slowly, slowly, I kept coming back.
Seasons changed.
Something shifted.
And then I was
Hooked like the fairy lights
On my big, blank wall.
At first, out of place,
A strange sight until they weren’t.
Over time they just fit.
Some warmth in the cold
And a cool breeze in the heat.
You’ve been with me since I was four
And I don’t remember when we started
To just fit.
You’re my familiar embrace
When the seasons change.
I don’t mind the cold these days
But I really like you.
Love always, L
